A meal photo is personal. So are the details you enter about your body and routine. This policy explains what happens to that information when you use PlateCrew.
You choose whether to take or select a meal photo. We do not read your full photo library.
A photo you submit for analysis is sent to Google Gemini so the crew can identify foods and make an estimate.
We do not use your meal, body, or health information for targeted advertising.
01 Who is responsible
Kunal Behbudzade operates PlateCrew and is responsible for the personal information described here. “We”, “us”, and “our” mean that operator.
This policy covers the PlateCrew mobile app and these legal pages. It does not cover services you visit separately through an external link or a share sheet.
02 Data we handle
We handle the information needed for the features you choose to use:
Camera and photo-library access are requested only when you use the corresponding feature. Device permissions can be changed in your device settings.
03 How we use it
- Identify foods in a photo or text entry and estimate portions and nutrients.
- Keep your meal journal, show trends, and generate character responses about what you recorded.
- Use profile details to calculate or adapt daily nutrition targets where that feature is available.
- Operate the app, prevent misuse, diagnose failures, answer support requests, and comply with applicable law.
- Confirm access to paid features if you buy a subscription.
Food and nutrition outputs are estimates. We do not use these details to make medical diagnoses or decisions about your eligibility for employment, insurance, or credit.
04 AI and other providers
Google Gemini. To analyze a meal photo, estimate food information, or generate some crew text and audio, our server sends the relevant photo, meal details, and instructions to Google’s Gemini API. A photo is sent only when you submit it for analysis. Do not include anything in a meal photo that you do not want processed, such as other people or private documents.
Google processes those requests under its Gemini API terms. Its handling, including abuse-monitoring retention, can depend on the service tier and configuration used. We do not authorize the use of your meal or profile information for targeted ads.
Our server and database providers process information to host and deliver PlateCrew. Apple may process purchase and subscription information under Apple’s privacy policy. We require service providers acting for us to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law.
If you export a crew story, your device’s share sheet asks where to send it. Before sharing, check whether the export includes your meal photo or any nutrition details.
05 Storage and deletion
We keep profile, meal, and generated crew records while they are needed to provide your journal and related features. You can remove individual meals in the app. You may request deletion of all information linked to your installation or account using the contact details below.
The app may keep copies of confirmed meal photos on your device. Uninstalling the app removes its local storage from that device. Our server processes an uploaded photo for analysis; the original upload is not intentionally kept as a permanent server photo library. Generated crew audio and text may be cached for replay.
When we receive a verified deletion request, we remove associated information from active systems unless we must keep a limited record for legal, security, or dispute reasons. Residual copies in backups and provider systems may remain for a limited period under their retention policies before they expire.
Deleting a PlateCrew account or installation record does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. You can manage an Apple subscription at Apple Subscriptions.
06 Your choices and rights
- Use device settings to revoke camera, photo-library, or notification access.
- Edit or remove information where the app provides controls for it.
- Ask us for access, correction, a copy, or deletion of your personal information using the contact below. We may need to verify that a request belongs to the relevant installation or account.
- Object to or withdraw consent for processing where applicable law gives you that right. Revoking access to a feature may prevent that feature from working.
Rights differ by location. We will respond under the law that applies to your request. We do not sell meal, body, or health data.
07 Security and transfers
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, limit access, and operate the service securely. No system can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in countries other than your own where our providers operate; when required, we use appropriate legal safeguards for those transfers.
08 Children and health information
PlateCrew has no fixed minimum age. Children may need a parent or guardian’s permission to use features that process personal information, depending on where they live. If you believe a child provided information without permission required by law, contact us. We will review the request and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required. A parent or guardian may also ask to review or delete information connected to their child.
Profile and meal information can be sensitive. PlateCrew is a nutrition journal, not a medical device or a substitute for professional care. The current app does not read Apple Health data. If that changes, we will explain the specific data and ask for the relevant permission before access.
09 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app or our providers change. We will revise the date above and, if a change materially affects how we use personal information, provide notice in the app or by another appropriate method before the change takes effect.
